Remove my Colon already!

I don't believe the posters were being negative -- just realistic. We've all been down many paths to try and get our UC under control -- any many of us have tried the holistic approach without making a dent in our UC symptoms. So, when someone comes on here with a "cure" many of us know what the real cure for UC is...surgery to remove the colon.

Except that isn't "cured", that's "remission."

Lesson number one: positive thinking doesn't always work. Just because you want something to be true, it isn't magically true. I want to believe there is no war. You want to believe there's a cure for UC just lying around out there. Yet people are still dying in Afghanistan, and others are still having life-threatening flares after years of remission.

Some day there may be a non-surgical cure. Today, there isn't.
