anyone else experience this?

I have all those symptoms; the first two the most. For me it suggests inflammation in the colon/rectum. I have long skinny stools, sometimes with a flat side. I guess if you think of the internal structure of your rectum/colon as a mold, the stools are what is cast. I have been using mesalamine enemas nightly for the past 2 1/2 weeks and still have this problem. Along with 4 lialda and now tapered to 10mg prednisone. I am happy not to have the bleeding for now. My rectum hurts about 80% of the time. This seems to suggest that something is still not right in there... I think they are probably pretty common symptoms. I have UC but I guess the rectum is the first place to flare and last to heal. Have you tried the retention enemas?

when I'm flaring....definitely...those are my "obvious" "clincher" symptoms.

I do, however, have flat stools on occasion if I'm not eating enough or forgot to take my fibre.

you could up the rectal supps to twice daily.

You might consider to try proctocedyl suppositories as well (prescription)...in case it's hemmies that you have as well.

Thanks..this puts my mind somewhat at ease. I try not insert the cort suppositories too often as I think this is deteriorating the inside of the rectum. Every other morning is what I do.
Quincy...I do have internal and external hemorrhoids as was reported on my last colonoscopy report on May of 08.

What makes you think that the suppositories deteriorate inside the rectum? You know my new gastro prescribed the Cortifoam AND Anusol THREE times a day for at least 2 weeks or until I was "better" (which means no D or blood/mucous). I used them both at least 2 times a day for about 3 weeks and then tapered and now only use them once a week or two. This was when I was tapering prednisone. Bleeding stopped, soreness of rectum got better and everything more normal. BUT - I don't have hemmroids (thank goodness).

Yes, I've had all three. Those symptoms mean you still have some inflammation in your rectum. As your rectum heals, they will get better. In my case, after flaring for five years straight, I doubt I'll ever be able to put off going to the bathroom for hours as I used to in a pinch, but I'm no longer in danger of having accidents because I can't get to a bathroom soon enough.

It sounds like proctitis issues....rectal meds.
