i'm gonna be a cat lady if this keeps up

Hey, I have a very complicated relationship, I met my boyfriend whilst travelling. I went back to live with him and a couple of months into the relationship was rushed into hospital with amoebic dysentry which I'd obviously been harbouring and then they realised I had UC as well. It was horrendous whilst in hospital with my boyfriend coming in to visit and having to run to the bathroom about 30 times a day making loads of noise (sometimes not really making it across my room to the toilet in time) and wheeling my drip backwards and forwards across the room, I totally lost my dignity! I'm still with him, but due to my needing medical care etc we spend most of our time 10,000 miles apart. I'm starting to realise that if I don't go into remission soon, then this relationship is going nowhere fast because we can't continue living so far apart and I can't get a visa/leave my medical care.

I do worry about being on my own a lot, as realistically this relationship can't last, it's probably only lasted this long because we're apart so much and he only has give me support over skype.

I think it's bad at this age, as most of my friends are now settled down with babies (last thing on my mind right now and lots of medical people been negative about future chances). As everyone settled down, it means that people don't go out socially much - not that I ever feel like it! Which then means it's really difficult to meet new people. I think even if I actually met anyone new then how could I put this on them? And would I want to try to have a child if I could pass this on?

Out of interest has anyone had surgery and found that you can totally put this illness behind you? Can you date normally/do you feel like having sex etc? I'm really starting to think that surgery may be the way to go I just want a life back!
