Colonoscopy - how often?

Hello,

Is there anyone with UC (flaring or in remission) who does not have a colonoscopy annually? My doctor did not order one in 2009, or yet in 2010. I've been doing well since starting Remicade in January 2009, so that might have something to do with it. I'll be talking to my doctor about it during a check up next month, but I was wondering what others were doing.

So before the 10 year mark, should c-scopes be every 5 years?

I had one at diagnosis and another at the end of year 1. Then about every 2.5 - 3 years.

I'm at the 21 year mark and since my last c-scope was perfect regarding NO precancer, no cancer, I'll have one in probably 2+ years.

I would be lead by what my doc suggests, but I agree with Quincy, if all looks OK, maybe pushing it off a bit is not a bad idea. . . . not one of my favorite procedures ; )

My doc recomended every two years unless there was a major change or problem
