Blood question

Sorry to be gross but can you tell me what kind of blood you see when you say you have blood with a BM.

Is it usually mucus blood or frank red blood?

Is it about the quantity of blood or the fact that their is any blood?

When do you get alarmed?

I bleed alot.  It is my most difficult symptom to control.  Even when I am in what my doctor calls remission I will bleed from time to time.  It is always pretty bright red.  Sometimes I pass blood with stool, mucus or both.  There have also been times that all I pass is blood.  It will drip into the toliet.  I bleed from very low in the rectum.

Red blood. It can be on, in, or separate from the poo depending on the extend of the flare and the condition of the poo. For example, if I'm having pure diarrhea, then I can't tell the difference between what is poo and what is blood.

I also pass a lot of blood clots when I'm flaring. They are round with stringy looking bloody tissue surrounding the outer part of the blood clot. I can mush them with my fingers.

I knew I was doing badly when it was like peeing blood out of my pooper. Only a little brown in large quantities of red.
When I was doing well, I still always had a little blood (before Remicade)

I bleed like crazy. Either bright red, or slightly darker red. I think it is coming from my rectum and maybe from the left side.

Ive been bleeding badly with lots of mucus since christmas. It is either blood on it's own, mixed with mucus with kind of clots of blood, or when i have a bowel movement, the toilet bowel will be bright red! I can't stop the bleeding, whatever i try, and it really freaks me out.

I get urgency in the mornings, which is usually just blood, mucus and gas. I might have 6 + trips to the rest room with those symptoms. Then i might have a bowel movement, but i don't have loose bm at the moment, it has gone to kind of small pieces like nuts, which i guess is more constipated. One extreme to the next!! I also get lots of left sided pain, and the under lying feeling of nausea.

Ive had colitis for 16 years this year, and it is progressively getting more resistant to everything i try.

Diet does nothing for me, i am intolerant to all western medicines, and no alternate treatments work for me. I feel like i am banging my head against a brick wall with this disease.

I am now awaiting my flexible sigmoidoscopy on 22nd March, to see the damage to my left side of my colon, if it is bad enough, then i am having surgery.
