Is there such a thing as .."semi flare/remission"?

Hmm... well, my doctor was very clear with me at my last appointment that our "goal" is for me feeling normal. What he wants to see is NO inflammation, meaning inactive. That's pie in the sky, "goal." So I think in my doctor's eyes you would be flaring. At a level of flaring anyway. Maybe you're in a functional flare, but it sounds like your disease would be considered "active." It's hard to say though, isn't it? Because our poor colons don't always go 100% back to normal after being beat up, so who's to say yours isn't just doing it's best. Maybe there's some damage that going to take a long time to heal etc. It is hard when all we want is to be normal, feel normal and always wonder when we can consider ourselves that way!

In answer to your question, should i go ahead with a colonoscopy when i am having a flare? I think the best person to answer this question would be your consultant. I think that perhaps they would not want to do the colonoscopy if you were having a significant flare. it is some time since i was in your position so things may have changed but it would be best to ask, anyway if they know you are flaring they could make the decision when you attend but it would be a waste of time preparering yourself for colonoscopy when it may not go ahead. Hope things go well, i had years of the same and it makes me cringe to remember it.
