So, anyone else go a little bug nutz when they are on prednisone? I had a freak out this morning. Fortunately I was home alone in the midst of my screaming profanities and then eating half a chicken... kind of freaked me out!

Absolutely! The first week I was on it, I took a stepladder and a saw outside and "trimmed our 10 foot tall hedge - 30 feet long - to 4 feet in height! Wow was it UGLY!!

And I remember my son playing online games - WW2 games with folks from all over, singing show tunes loudly for at least an hour into the gaming mic - !!

Yup! I do warn people around me that I am on medication that makes me just snap at the silliest thing so that I don't end up fighting with someone. People usually understand and just calm me down when I start shouting and sweating! After a few minutes, we have a nice laugh about it. This only happens when the pred is taken down to a lower dose!

I remember when I first started taking it about 14 years ago - I had just gotten home w/ a pizza hut pizza...my girlfriend at the time started arguing with me about something...cant remember now....but i remember taking the pizza and ripping it to shreads - box, pizza...then when i couldnt rip any more i stomped the rest into a grease spot...

Never been on pred and know that I wouldn't be able to tolerate the emotional issues well. But in your situation....as long as the chicken was cooked, it seems you got through it OK.

Hope you don't have to be on it long.

I have been on pred twice and both times i had roid rage i would just turn into a mad woman screaming and shouting one minuit and crying the next when i was on high dose you can hear yourself but not stop also i could eat for england and put on over 2 stone so feel your pain good luck hope you feel better soon.

Jennifer, I am sorry, I feel your pain. I was on it for over 3 months a few months ago and now am back on it (just took pills...day 3). I was the same way.

You did make my day, though. I was sitting here taking my pills and drinking my coffee when I read your post. I laughed so hard that I spit my coffee all over myself and my desk. I could truly picture it. Right now I am at the kind of nauseous stage, but I know the incredible hunger that is uncontrollable is just a few days away.

I was on Pred for two years and my family said it was like living with me having PMS for two years. I had trouble sleeping, I managed to keep the weight gain to ten pounds but I was CONSTANTLY RAVENOUS. The slightest thing would set me off. I almost booted my Beagle across the room once when she wouldn't quit barking. Thank goodness I was able to get off it when I went on Remicade.

Last time I was on pred I had an emotional meltdown. I felt depressed and super anxious. I met with my GI last week and I joked with him the last time he saw me I was high on pred. He said a lot of his patients on pred get rage.

Oh yes, I remember the roid rage well. But I was also 16 at the time and teenage hormones weren't helping much :) I think I gained like 20 pounds on that stupid drug and it didn't nothing for me. Worthless...

I handled it with Xanax and it went well.  I LOVED the energy it gave me and that my joints felt so good because I have arthritis!  I only side effects I had was moonface (not fond of that) and wanting to eat everything in sight (and I am already obese).  I loved the long fingernails and smooth skin.  I wish someone would invent a prednisone-like medication to do all that AND stop the bleeding.  Worked great for me.  Took it 5.5 months and tapered really slowly - not the fun part!

I get irritated easy and am an all around a-hole on pred. I tend to take my aggression out in the evenings on my weights though.

I can totally relate...when I was on prednisone I was super moody and emotional...I don't miss that at all :)
