Does anyone else on mesalamine do any of these things?

Yes I know tanning beds are not the best for us but once in a while I really could use a bit of a glow!! :) just wondering if the meds make our skin sensitive to sun?

Also, is it one of the medications that you cant be on and do laser hair removal?

I have about 6 sessions left at a place that I had signed up with before got UC :( I dont want it to go to waste.

I know this is OT but I am finally feeling better and would like to start pampering myself a bit as I have been totally neglecting ME the last two years since the MOTHER of all flare ups hit home...

i have never heard anything about not being able to tan with UC and the meds.  I've been doing it for a year now maybe thats why i'm still sick!

noo that wouldnt be why..i just thought maybe the meds might make us photosensitive...

Nicole why do you think you are not healing? Are you symptoms not ANY better since diagnosis?

I started using self tanners a few years back (after having fear struck into me by my dermatologist) and have found a few brands I can't live without. So nice to have a little color! If there's an Ulta near you, the Ulta brand spray in med-dark (even if you're fair skinned) works wonders.

Generally using a tanning bed is not that great which you already stated but I don't think a tan here or there would be to bad. Of course the more you go, the higher the skin cancer rate increases regardless of having Uc or not. When I was just on 5-ASA's, sun and tanning booths never bothered me but now that I'm on an immune suppressor I am a bit more sensitive. Now if you were on Sulfasalazine then it is NOT recommended to use a tanning bed because that med can make your skin more sensitive.

I just always feel a bit better with a tan..and with less hair on my body lol.. I remember stopping the laser for some med but I cant remember which one that was...

im not sure i think because of the stress i am always under the doc gave me klonopin to try to relax me but i have ibs as well so its hard to distinguish the two.

I see..stress is a killer..literally..
I too am trying to figure out if I have IBS and UC both. What are your IBS symptoms?

I had laser hair removal after getting diagnosed. You can't be on prednisone for 2 weeks within treatment. All my other meds were ok.

I think the only med to worry about with tanning is 6-mp/azathioprine. But I still don't recommend it, you're pretty much paying for skin cancer.
