If you're on Remicade... can you otherwise be medicine-free? Does this option mean that I won't have to take the other 25+ pills I'm taking on a daily basis?
Thanks!

I am off of all the typical UC meds and I am only taking vitamins and probiotics since I started the Remi. Have you started Remi yet?

I quit everything but the sulfasalazine, immodium and supplements.

Yes, I'm only having Remi infusions and am on no other medications at this time.

I'm still taking Colazal, but I've only had one infusion so far. I'm just waiting for the ok from my doctor to stop Colazal.

I just started Remicade, but was previously on Humira, which is similar. When i was on Humira and in a good solid remission, I took Asacol still, and of course a daily vitamin, milk thistle (this is for liver health-since these meds are hard on the liver-and during the trial, I never had any bloodwork come back saying my liver was taxed, so I assume it must help-IDK) and probiotics, but that was it. Later when it lost effectiveness, I tried a million supplements, but for most of that time, I was only on the Asacol (twice a day), multivitamin, milk thistle and probiotic-which I didn't even take initially.
Now on the Remicade, my meds are basically the same. I am not sure you would need the probiotic or anything, but I just think it is a good thing to take. And the milk thistle may not be necessary, but I since I have not had any liver issues thus far on these meds, I figure I will just keep taking it.
My doc wants me to stay on Asacol long term-I only take 6 a day, and it doesn't seem like a big deal to me to take it. They told me that it helps protect against colon cancer.

No, I haven't started Remicade. After all the research I've done - I'm really trying to avoid it & would, at this point, prefer surgery. However, IF I'd be able to get off all the other medications I'm on - I think I'd be willing to reconsider to avoid these side effects...
