A jpouch cannot be built "bigger". When that does happen, by a less experienced surgeon, the patient ends up with a pouch that doesn't completely empty and is miserable. Inevitably in this situation more surgery is needed. It's been 9 years since my surgery and I don't have any inflammation anywhere else but some UC patients continue to have inflammation problems. Adaption to a jpouch takes about a year but that is definitey not a year of inactivity.
As for pregnancy post jpouch go to www.j-pouch.org and read the posts under Pregnancy. Lots of pregnant women and women who have bore children post surgery that can advise you.
