I am American Indian (Blackfoot), Filipina, and Mexican (via Basque ancestry)
I think it is the "Hygiene Theory" that says that our immune systems developed alongside many bacteria and even parasites that we no longer regularly encounter - therefore, our immune system gets out-of-whack. People who subscribe to this believe that eating soil organisms and even having hookworms will put your immune system in it's more optimal state. Crazy, I know, but if push comes to shove, I just might try the Helminthic Therapy (non-reproducing hookworms) because those who say it's cured them are very convincing. Push would have to come to a might big shove though!
Anyway, this to ask if maybe cultures that eat more 'au natural' are less likely to develop IBD?
