What's the longest you've been on it continuously and the dosage?

january-december...anywhere from 20-60 mg most of time

The first time I was on it, I was on IV in the hospital for 4 days-that was a high dose, but I don't recall how much, then I was on 40mg for 9 weeks, then tapered off from there and was on them a total of ~4 months.

This time, I have been on 40mg since Valentine's day, except the week I was in the hospital and was on the IV steroids again-which was higher. I should be able to start tapering next week, so this time will be a bit over 7 weeks on the full dose, and the taper will take another couple of months, I am sure.

Too long, if you ask me, but I am following doctor's orders on it.

5+ years anywhere from 5-60mg. majority of the time was around 20mg..

2.5 years anywhere from 5mg-40mg.

This is my first time on pred and I have been on 60mg for 5 weeks so far. I'm just not quite getting there! We shall see...

I *think* each IV dose I got was 40mg, and I got 2 or 3 doses a day. I will look at the discharge forms and see if the exact dosage was on there.

I also should mention that both of the times I have been on pred, I have used biologics after starting-last time I started Humira and this time Remicade. So I have not been on pred long term on its own-which is good because it doesn't get me into remission by itself.

     Longest period of time at one shot starting at 60 mgm and tapering was seven months....April of 08 thru Oct of 08.  Shortest, two months, which is my usual trend.  Been on it far too often.   Average from Oct of 2003 thru April of 08 was two months per year.  Can't seem to get off it for longer than two months at a time now.  Hope Humira kicks in soon.
