You know, as much as I am looking forward to this, I am less nervous entering burning buildings. I know it will be for the better and I know I have you guys for the support, but I have to say .... I am a little freaked knowing it is a few days away (surgery for those who haven't been following my posts). I have been off Humira now for two weeks and my body is starting to retaliate. So, in a few days I will be a different person. I know I am beating a dead horse here, but I am seriously greatful for all of you that have answered my inquires and laughed at my stories. So, thank you, all!

Anthony...I'd be freaked as well, but there is huge comfort KNOWING that those who have had it done and shared the experience have one statement in common....they're happy they did it.
It totally sucks to not have any other options for quality of life, but just think that how your vehicle will thank you.
Looking forward to your experience of sharing....

thanks guys! The brothers from the firehouse are taking me out for a "bag" party tonight. Again, I admire all the strength all of you have and I like that lot. Stay well all, and I will surely keep in touch. Yes, quincy, the truck will be super happy. She just got new tires and I am sure she is dying for me to get this bag ;)

I recently had the surgeries and it was the best thing I ever did, no regrets. I had the first surgery (total colectomy, j-pouch pouch formation and temp ileostemy) Jan 12 and my take down was April 6. I feel GREAT, am having well formed poos for the first time since diagnosis and just figuring out what I can eat and getting used to the new plumbing.
Have you spent any time on the j-pouch.org boards? The folks there are great for those contemplating, having or having had the surgery. Lots of good support and knowledge. And when you are having trouble with your temporary ileostomy lots of great advice.
The first month or so is the worse, but unlike with UC you feel better and things get better every day. It's a bit of an ordeal but so well worth it. I wish you well on your adventure!

I found out one of my coworker's husband had j-pouch surgery several years ago. I had no idea. I talked to him about
it and he said as VERY happy with it. He said it is a little annoying going to the bathroom 6 times a day, but he's pain free and med free. Made me almost want to get it done and my UC is very mild ;p
