6mp & ulcers

I have been on the 6mp for 6 weeks now and have started to suffer terribly with mouth ulcers, does anyone know if this is a side effect of the drugs ? I also get awful nausea, even though I take it in the evenings, but it has helped to get my flare more in control....

Anyhow, is there anything i can do to prevent any more mouth ulcers as they are really really painful?

Thanks ! I am on 6mp, just changed my signature now. i was prviously on Imuran but it caused horrendous nausea, we're trying the 6mp now.

Do you know if it's safe to take vitamin supplements while on 6mp? I will also change to salzopyring tomorrow, can I take multivitamins with that?

Sorry Sherry, my typo ! It's the sulfa based drug, sulfasalazine, which has the brand name of salzopyrin here in Ireland :) . It's meant to be very effective in reducing arthritis pains, which I am suffering with, nearly more now than with my UC.
