Pathology reports are in... Better sit down for this one~!

OK.... This is SOOOO Friggen weird... I simply cannot believe it...

My GI Just called me back with the pathology reports from my colonoscopy on Monday... I don't have any active Crohn's OR U/C.... My colon is fine... The entire thing.. No polyps, nothing.... He said he noticed some redness at the ileo-cecal valve, but all the biopsies he took came back totally normal..no sign of inflammation anywhere... in fact, I should be in complete remission right now...

SOOOOOO... My GI thinks all this right sided pain could be of a gynecological nature... It doesn't have anything to do with my colon or small intestine... He thinks because I had a hysterectomy and ovarectomy in the past, that I could have developed adhesions in my abdomen or even endometriosis as I do have that in my medical history also, so he is suggesting I see a surgeon to have a peek inside with a scope...

I don't get it though, all my discomfort is not down low.. it's actually just to the right of my belly button and up under my rib cage on the right side and sometimes I get pain and discomfort all the way across my stomach... Sort of the path the colon follows through the body.. AND, this right sided pain didn't even start until I was almost weaned off the prednisone, It started when I got down to 2.5mg... way back in December...

Maybe IBS????

So completely weird... Anyhoo... I have an appt with my GP tomorrow to see what she has to say. I guess the ball is in her court now..... I am completely stumped...

I am thrilled that my intestines are ok after all this... . I just can't believe it... I am absolutely shocked....

Well as a massage therapist I have noted that almost all the muscular pain I help people with is referred pain. Meaning the pain is felt somewhere different than the source. It is weird. Almost unbelievable sometimes. Sometimes the pain is so obviously coming from one place and when I press into that muscle, they feel nothing. But when I find the source of it, some other muscle, my client goes, "whoa, that's it" I press in one place and it recreates the pain they have been experiencing.

I know this is a totally different thing, but a lot of research I have read indicated that a lot of referred pain goes in with the organs too.

So that's about all the insight I can muster with my experience, but I guess then, there is a possibility that your doc is right, maybe there is another prob, even though you feel it in you intestinal area

But - referred pain, as Neander said - for 6 years I thought I had a bad knee and it turns out my knee is great but I needed my hip replaced. So.......

Gosh, at my old GI's office there was one doc who really took an interest in GI/GYN issues.... maybe you can find someone like that, or rather a GYN who is interested in GYN/GI iisues.....

We sure know the systems are connected; so many of us have more UC symptoms at period time. And the pred you took would have calmed down any kind of inflammation in your body, right....? Goodness. this one really is a mystery!!

Geez...nothing is ever easy it is? On the one hand yay for your colon looking good but whats with the pain then? Keep us posted!

I'd go for the adhesions. I know of other women who have had them. My sister for one.


Endometriosis.....did you not have that ovary removed on the right side? it could be if you didn't....having an exploratory would be a good idea for sure.
