So I began taking 50mgs. of 6 mp 4 weeks ago thanks to flare that started up early in March (thank you seasonal allergies...just my opinion!)
and was using rowasa nightly & canasa daily. I refused to go on the prednisone again so I knew my only choice was the 6mp.
Anyway, my twins have nasty colds, & I started feeling really yucky this afternoon & now I am running a temp of 101.5 with chills,
sore throat & my body aches so bad. I have not ran a temp over 100 in years, all of a sudden I am on 6mp & I feel HORRIBLE shocked
I knew eventually this would creep up on me, with the kids I figure I can't avoid getting sick. I took 2 aspirin b/c I am petrified to take anything else
with this stuff. I am 1 of those people who takes childrens benedryl b/c I can't handle the adult form LOL!
So, question is ...do I call the doctor & let him know even if this turns out to be just a flu?? Especially with having to take care of the kids I need to
avoid any unnecessary trips to the ER...Thanks friends!

It probably is the flu and wow...do I feel for you!!!

ARe you still on the Rowasa nightly? If so...stay on it for now at least until you start showing improvement.

Make sure you're eating and taking in lots of fluids. The aspirin or Tylenol will help with the fever/body aches.

How are your kids doing?

I can't advise you whether to call the doc regarding the 6MP....

I hope you feel better soon and that this doesn't drag on as long as mine did.

I also had horrible flu the first month I wason 6mp, ended up sith strep throat and antibiotics for it. I run a fever up to 103 for few days. I did take my 6mp as normal, but I also took lots of paracetamol to make me feel better.
Keep up the fluids and try to get some rest. I really feel for you, as I had never felt so sick than I did over those few days :(

Both my primary and my GI told me that if I ever run a fever over 100 to see my primary regardless of the reason - or maybe just even call to see what they say. When I get sick now, which is about once a year, I get REALLY sick. I'm talking high fevers, rashes, major congestion, coughing, achy joints etc. When I call my primary on those occasions, she knows I'm on 6mp and gets me immediately.

Drinks lots and lots of fluids and please get some rest. I hope you start to feel better soon.

Bummer to get sick with small kids to take care of. If you have to take an anti-biotic maybe up your probiotic amount and take at an opposite time so your good gut flora doesn't get massacred along with the bad guys.

I like your supplement list :-) Can you get any veggie juice? I've found that gives me some good benefits. Not too much in the beginning, powerful anti-oxidants at work.

Doctor told me to take Tylenol as aspirin may increase your chances of bleeding. Hope you feel better soon!
