I went to Iceland with some friends back in 2000, and it is one place I would recommend to anyone. It was fantastic. You won't find any warm beaches, but there are a multitude of natural hot springs where you can relax and soak it all in. It is more of a walking/driving vacation with tons of sightseeing trips and completely unique landscapes (i.e. volcanoes, geysers, lava fields, glaciers, etc). In August you can expect weather in the 60's or so, very comfortable, and all the people are friendly and amazing. Now I want to go back.
I hear it is comparable to New Foundland, which is somewhere my wife and I plan to visit in the near future.

I would recommend Iceland :) Live there and Love it!!

We have a very active volcano at the moment and its a real stunner to see.

Lots of more things to do but that is the highlight at the moment

     May 3rd was our 41st Wedding Anniversary.  We honeymooned in Bermuda at the Elbow Beach Surf Club...I think it is STILL there!  I should google it.  In 1996 we took a cruise there but I liked staying right on the island.  It is one of the most beautiful islands we've been to.

We went to Sandals in the Bahamas for our honeymoon too. It was WONDERFUL. I have been dying to go back since. If you want to relax by the beach it's perfect. Good food and since it's all inclusive you don't worry about tipping. (unless you go to their spa)

We went to St. Lucia, a little West Indies island, and stayed at a small french inn, Anse Chastenet. Instead of rooms, everyone had a small cottage. There was a private beach with a bar, great contemporary French food but no room service. It was very private, romantic and low key. Airline lost our luggage, but who needs clothing on a honeymoon? We spent a lot of time snorkeling, scuba diving and sailing. We found a great local dance club. We hope to go back for our 25th anniversary in two years.
The other place I would definitely go back to is the island of Santorini in Greece. Everyday there felt like a honeymoon. We stayed at a family run inn. The whole family made us feel cared for and welcome. The grandmother gave me Greek cooking lessons. We spent a month sailing through the islands. It was absolutely incredible.
My oldest son went to a resort in Brazil for his honeymoon. He loved it but it looked way too crowded for my taste.

I love the Lakes Region in southern Maine, and Cape Cod in Massachusetts.....
