     I read where you just may decide to keep the perm ileo.  I want to tell you what my surgeon said to me last week.  When he was working at the Cleveland Clinic, he performed the first part of the j-pouch surgery on a young model.  She was married with three young children.  When it drew closer to the time of her second surgery she told Dr. Fry that she decided to just go with the permanent ileo.  She was comfortable with the bag and felt wonderful.  So, there you have it!  He said that was quite awhile ago and he lost contact with her but he was so pleased that she felt this way.

Thank you, Christine! That is exactly what I wanted to hear. I have only had the bag for 3 or 4 weeks and I feel very comfortable with it already. It is almost like it is a part of me and I don't even notice it. I just feel way too good now and I don't see why I would want to ruin a good thing. Thank you very much for posting this! do you have an end or a loop ileostomy, anthony? the end ileostomy is reserved for 3-step j-pouch procedures i think.

i understand your point of view since you're obviously feeling great, but i personally wouldn't have wanted to live with the loop ileostomy since it's too easy to become dehydrated. with an end ileostomy or a j-pouch your body absorbs more water. also i figured i might as well at least try the j-pouch, and if it didn't work out i could always go back to the ostomy. but so far so good for me.

in any event congrats on feeling healthy!! :-)

hey im on mezavent has anybody ever been on them getting a flare up even though im on 4 tabs a day

thecapecoddah ... yeah, I would have to undergo surgery for them to close offf everything and just make it an end-loop perm ileo. I would not be able to survive the way I am now especially with the constant liquid loss. Though it is somewhat under control with the immodium and stuff.
