Remicade after 3rd Infusion - new to the forum

Just had my 3rd Infusion of Remicade - feeling much better finally!  Not 100% as expected, but I would say 80% better after 5 years of trying to get into remission with this horrible disease!  I Was strongly against Remicade and its side effects, but threw in the towel and decided i needed some quality of life, or at least a chance to have one!  I havent had any side effects yet but am reminded constantly that they can happen at any time...feel free to post any questions or comments.  Im new to this forum.  thanks

Have had Severe UC since 23 along with Eosinophilic Esophagitis

Currently take Asacol, Prednisone, Zyrtec, Zantac, Singulair, Flovent, Iron, Calcium D3

Welcome! Glad to hear you are doing better. Hopefully you'll be at 100% in no time. There are many here that have much success on Remi.

Good to hear! I am scheduled to start Remicade this Friday after a 3 month long flare. This is the first time prednisone didn't work. I have tried evertyhing, including Immuran, and after a scope on Wednesday, GI said time for Remicade. I am only slightly worried about side effects. After sufferring everyday, you just want relief and if Remicade can do it, I guess I will take my chances. I hope relief happens fast!

I am  from Mass as well.  Good for you.  Glad you are feeling better.  I am taking Imuran and it has healed my colon a lot.  I realize that it may fail me in the future so Remi may be in my future.  I am just curious, how bad was your UC prior to the Remicade?  What did your colonscopy show to make your GI say now is the time?

Welcome to the forum...that is great to hear....I too was very nervous about starting Remi but so far it has given me my life back with no side effects. Hope you continue to improve and go into a long remission!!
