Is there any end to this
Yes. It's called remission, the promised land.
I have only been on steroids once (Entocort) and when that course ended the symptoms did indeed return.
I was put on 6mp for many months with no improvement and then on a higher dose of same, no improvement.
Knowing that Humira or similar biological med was next I made one last SERIOUS try at diet mod and I am now, 4.5 months later, in the promised land (never before achieved any remission in 10 years). I stopped 6mp which wasn't doing anything to help and am on a reduced dose of Sulfalazine. It may or may not be doing anything but has no side effects so I keep taking it just in case.
Over the past 10 years I've tried diet after diet with poor results. I cannot say why it worked this time, but am grateful beyond words that it did.
No, alcohol isn't good but I will admit to having a half-glass of white wine with fizzy water (spritzer?) about once every 2-3 weeks. Not in the beginning though, that would set me back. Gotta be tough and live in "food boot camp" before getting to experiment with forbidden food and drink. I also can eat some chocolate now and drink about 4 oz. of coffee a couple times a week (not every day).
I feel gluten and grains were my biggest problems and I'll never put them back in. Small price for my recovered life and health.
Best wishes on your road to health.
