I was on Pred from the end of February 'til about
a week and a half ago. For the last few days, my left side's been aching, I've not felt like eating, (and found out the hard way dairy apparently doesn't agree with me, which cuts out about
half of my diet) have had quite a bit of pain when I go to the bathroom, and have been going more frequently. This morning, I noticed some blood on the TP. I called my GI, but Friday's the day that he's out of the office, at the hospital doing colonoscopies(spelling?) and he may not get my message until Monday. I'm not too worried, because I'm not in a lot of pain; it just feels like someone's poking me, really. Anyway, onto my original topic.
In the message I left, I said that I was interested in rectal meds, suppositories or enemas, because my GI keeps trying to put me on Lialda, which I can't afford (I'm having trouble with what I'm taking now) and my fiance (whose Father had UC, and had to have his colon removed due to Toxic Megacolon) keeps telling me I should think about
having my colon removed, and while it would probably be good in the long run, and definitely less expensive, because I wouldn't have to keep paying for meds, that is my last resort, and I want to try as many other options as I can first. How hard are rectal meds to use, and how effective have they been for you?
I'm sorry this is so long, I tend to talk too much...
