Possible constipation? Help!

I have been having frequent diarrhea (at the worst 10+ times a day), abdominal pain, etc, since 5/28. Now, suddenly (since yesterday) I feel like nothing is moving!

I am still having bm's (6 today so far), but they are very small, very thin pieces of stool that are still soft, but still incredibly difficult to pass. I have felt SO AWFUL all day, and barely survived work with horrible abdominal pain/cramping, bloating, and all around yuckyness.

I can't remember the last time I was actually constipated, and I have no idea what's going on!!

Any opinions?

I used to be THRILLED when D turned to C until my body started shutting down due to C.
To get back on track: add a gentle laxative to your daily pill routine. I added Citucel, tried various amounts 2-4-6 and found (for now) 2 pills in the AM and 2 in the afternoon is my just right number. The bottle says you can take up to 12/day but that sounds awful to me.

Back in the day when faster action was needed I would take ONE X-lax chocolate tab but needed a day at home to manage the results. Worked but harsh on the poor colon. I would only do that now in fear of megacolon or hospitalization.

Ideally one's diet should have the necessary fiber in it but my colon hasn't gotten to the point of being healed enough to be regular on it's own. But then I know people with healthy colons also need Citrucell or similar to be regular too.

I'd stick with the rectal meds and drink a lot of water before trying a laxative, especially if you're still having six bms, even if they're small. Maybe if you weren't having them at all.
