OT- Earthquake yesterday! did you feel it?

Just north of Toronto we felt the rumbles that came from a quake centred in Ottawa (I think I am right)

Anyone else feel it?

So weird..earthquakes and a tornado warning in one day!!

I'm in Cincinnati and some here did feel it. My daughter and I were at a greenhouse/nursery at about the time we experienced the tremors from this earthquake. I did hear something but thought it was thunder. What I heard sounded odd because we didn't have any storms or rain coming. So I wonder if that was the earthquake? We were standing on the ground, with dirt and gravel beneath our feet. Not really in a sturdy brick building by any means. I heard some buildings shook and chandeliers swayed down here for 45 seconds. A downtown Cincinnati college had to be evacuated!

We had a 6 story statue of Jesus burn recently from a lightning strike, in our area. It caught fire and burned to the ground. That story made national news. Then yesterday the earthquake, many are joking - what next? lol

Its weird how far away you can be and still feel it!
I had already bee through a 6.7 quake in Hawaii in 2006. The one yesterdasy was NOTHING compared to that.
I was at work yesterdsay..when my chair began to lift up and down..it was a weird feeling ..but for some reason I knew it was a quake..

We also had tornados touch down here yesterday...what next is for real......

A building in Boston, MA was evacuated because it was swaying from the earthquake.  I'm about 15 mi. south and didn't notice it.  But, I live just off of a main st. with a lot of truck traffic.

Felt it here in central NY - it was very light - some did not feel it.  I think because I was sitting in my recliner is why!

I am in BUffalo, NY, and we were outdoors at a picnic 45 minutes and didn't feel it, but people in Buffalo did

I am in Ottawa and we had to run out of the restaurant we were in. Statues that were on the wall fell and luckily no one was sitting under them b/c they broke tables and glasses! The windows were rattling, shaking... The traffic lights were out and there was no cell phone signals. weird.

Ottawa was the epicentre I believe..I saw on tv that a bridge collapsed there too!!

I'm mopey today.
Apparently people have felt some tiny quakes in Michigan but they're always at night and I sleep through them.

Whoa, a bridge collapsed in Ottawa?

We vacationed there years ago along with other cities such as Barrie, Huntsville, Quebec City too.

I am going to look into that bridge collapsing! My friend cant go back to work b/c apparently teh building is unsafe now. It was an old old building and they were having brick work done so now it is deemed unsafe?...

Since links are frowned upon here, go to ottawacitizen - dot - com and you'll see coverage of the earthquake, pictures of the bridge that collapsed, etc.

Years ago as my daughters began college and the one started participating in summer internships across the country I found a useful link for newspapers across the world: headlinespot - dot -com / type / newspapers. Occasionally I consider deleting this bookmark but always decide to hang onto it. It's very useful when you want to look up news from almost anywhere in the world. Yes you can do this with google, I know you're all thinking that, but the headlines link gives you actual newspaper names.

Anyway, that's how I found the Ottawa news link.

SOOOOO scary!!!! I'm in the prairies with threats of tornadoes as well recently, but thankfully no earthquake tremours.

The weather's been so wonky, it's heartbreaking to hear all the tragedy and destruction that's happened. We all need a break from that...just hearing it in "concentration", one after the other causes stress.

I have been getting extreme anxiety over these types of things..snow storms, thunderstofms, earth quakes, tornadoes..they are just so out of our control...

cant be good for colitis...grrr

I prefer bad weather for my colitis over Germany. They have shallow toilets with rough toilet paper and the bathrooms are hard to find and at school they're in a seperate building. Also if you have to poop on the train, forget it. I want my car so I could just stop when I need to.
Give me weather any day.
