Just started whip worm therapy on Monday. Hopefully by September/October I will know if they are doing any good

yes, please keep us posted. we've spoken to Jasper a few times re: our daughter with UC. He's currently treating a one year old with CD. I hope we don't have to go down this route but we are seriously considering it. Good Luck!

Yes, I got them from autoimmune therapies. I live in Canada so shipping wasn't a problem and the shipping was included in the price. It needs to be in US funds, so thankfully Canadian $ is fairly close to US. Its been a week now and I haven't noticed anything yet, However I have been camping and have one more week to go. I am drinking more than normal because of this so it might be difficult to determine if the ten day mark when you are supposed to get symptoms is because of the worms or alcohol. After this week I will try to post more often as I will be home more. I had to come home today to mow the lawn.I have colitis for the past 23 years and the only thing that helps is smoking.I quit for 3 weeks a few years back but got so sick I couldn't go to work and I was maxed out on Mesesal (8 pills a day)so I started up again. My goal is that when I get better I will quit again as my brother passed away from lung cancer as he was a heavy smoker. I should start noticing changes by week 12 to 16.

Are you on pred as well? If we have to do another course of pred, I'll do the worms. I'm hesitant to do the worms because it means asking for oral pred.

I am only on Mesesal. You are not supposed to change any of your medications or diet to take whip worms. As time goes by (4 to 6 months) if you are feeling better, you start tapering off..

Day 11 or 12. Lots of diarhea and some hot flashes. I understand this is to be expected.Now I know why my wife is so *****y sometime :). Hopefully this wont last long, I dont recall anyone giving a time limit..

Thanks for the update. I've heard it could take up to a year. Interesting about the meds. My husband's spoken to Japsper Lawrence from AI Therapies and he was pretty insistent that you had to take pred with the first dose, otherwise the body would expel them and there would be no point? I guess they told you otherwise?
I hope the flashes pass soon and they kick in fast for you.

Unless I am mistaken I was informed by Dr Dellabra to not change anything I was presently doing or eating. I am wondering if perhaps you are thinking hookworms instead of whip worms. I cannot think of even one reason you would need prednisone for either one. I have also talked to Jasper and this was never mentioned. I have colitis and my understanding is that Hookworms are for Crohns and ashma. If your husband is taking pred now he should continue with prescriptions as usual. If you have any questions you should talk to Jasper to ensure everything is done correctly. My experience is only 10 to 12 days old. PS I apologise for spelling errors.........

Agreed. Jasper was pretty insistent about pred and yes this does influence our decision. He even mentioned he had someone taking the worms for UC who refused to take pred and they weren't "taking". Who is Dr. Dellabra? I'm thinking of whipworms - that's now what they use for UC right? He said they used to use hookworm for UC but it wasn't working? Anyway, good luck and keep us posted!

All I know is that I am on whip worms for UC and that is it. Dr Dellabra is Jaspers brother in law and partner. Hookworms do not have much effect on colitis. Other than that you should talk to Jasper as this is the first I have ever heard about using Pred in combination. If he told you that he must have a reason or your symptoms are perhaps more severe than mine. I still say to phone Jasper and straighten it out. I can only speak for myself

I'm hoping to try the worms at some point. I am currently pregnant (and on prednisone for a very bad flare that started about 6.5 weeks ago, very early in my pregnancy) so the worms aren't an option right now. I live in the US but my parents live in Canada, so I plan to have them shipped there and go for a visit :D

How is it packaged? Is it something I could try to bring back with me or would I need to stay in Canada to take the full dose (and how long does that take? 2 weeks?)

Mine arrived 3 business days after shipping (Fed Ex). It has to be signed for so someone has to be home. It comes in a small vial (about 50 ml or close to the size of those free samples on whisky bottles). Clear liguid, slightly salty, You take off cap and drink.I THINK?? that depending on your present severity you can do the treatment in one shot or split it up into 3 spread out about 3 weeks apart. I went with the one shot deal. If you spread them out shipping costs are more. Ask Jasper Lawrence to find out for sure. If you do the single shot you can drink it down and leave right away( Good for if you don't get along with your parents :) )Best to you.

Thanks for the input. I do get along well with my parents, so if I did need to spend 3 weeks there it would be longer than my normal visits but certainly not intolerable :) But the one shot deal sounds like the way to go. Are there any immediate side effects that would make a long flight uncomfortable?

The side effects start at about 10 days and can include diarhea and hot flashes.I am used to the diarhea but the flashes were definately new. Not painful or anything, just different. For me they were quite mild. I am at day 14 and think that my syptoms are finished. I only really had 2 days worth and I have had worse in flareups by far.I think that depending on the severity of your symptoms when you start is how they decide to go in stages or divide it up over time. I didn't have any blood or abdominal pain, just lots of bathroom trips, so I went for the one shot. As everyone is in different stages of remission/relapse it is probably tailored to each person. That's my quess but Jasper makes the call. Actually there is quite a lot of info at this site if you type in human whipworm, colitis in the search bar.None of the others seem to post anything after a few months but the ones that do all seem to have an improvement. That is good to know, that the symptoms do not start right away, so I will have time to get back home before they start. I am certainly willing to get a little bit worse before I get better. Looking forward to starting this, thank you for the information :)

Well now you've taken them, you can maybe keep reinfecting yourself as time goes by, I think they last 5 years? Just around 4.5 years you could reinfect.

Have they started working now?

Did you have any other issues like Hayfever and have they helped that?

I've always been really interested in the worms vis a vis hygiene therapy. It makes a lot of logical sense to my way of thinking
