just a question for anyone who has tapered off prednisone... im down to 5mg every other day and i wednesday was my first day of not taking it. wed night i had a horrible migraine that lasted into all of thursday. ive never had one so sever and was wondering if the tapering could be the problem. i usually get a migraine every other month that lasts under12 hours but this one was unlike any i have ever had. if anyone has ever had this happen can you help me out and let me know what to take for it since it seems excedrin is out of the ? Thank you!

I take prednisone too and the nurse told me you can get aches and pains when you are tapering. It wouldn't surprise me if your migraine was from the changes. Call your doc though to make sure. good luck..

Yup, I actually feel great when on pred, but the tapering part is awful. I get bad headaches and heart palpatations and dizzyness. I'm the moodiest while tapering too. You will feel better in a week. Drink a ton of water to help flush it out and help with the headaches. Oh, and the first week after being off I can fall asleep for no reason. I will be sitting there and it hits me like a brick wall. Its almost over, hang in there!

I would put my money on it being the prednisone withdrawl.
My common tapering symptoms are headaches, mood swings and throbbing knee pain.
Hang in there...

my doc tried dropping me from 30 mg twice a day to just 20 mg once a day. after a day and half i thought i was gonna die. my head started hurting. my body ached and i was throwing up everything.

I'm tapering now and having the same problem. I always get headaches on the first couple of days of each mg drop. Sooo glad I'm finally getting off of it though!!!
