Some things going good... U/C going HORRIBLE

I just don't get it... I think my U/C is triggered by stress and now that I'm out on my own and doing better with that, my U/C is out of control again...

Blood and clots with every BM... getting sharp pains on the upper left side of my abdomen (hoping it's gas) and I swear.. .

And the BIGGIE.... My health insurance is cancelled~!!!!!

I went online to make a payment on June 28th and did a one time payment. I even put it in my checkbook register on Quickbooks..... So, I think everything is great until I go to the pharmacy today to pick up a prescription and they tell me my health insurance isn't any good... So, I call my insurance company and they tell me they never had a payment post so my insurance was cancelled...

I had to write a letter explaining everything and request for my insurance to be reinstated and faxed it in.. but there is no guarantee that they will reinstate it.. If that's the case.. I'm screwed! I'm out of meds and freaking out..

I need some prayers that they will reinstate my insurance.. I hope it's soon too because I gotta do something like NOW...

Hope you get reinstated.  I may be old fashioned but that is why I never pay online.  I just mail checks - not always proof but I believe it is better.

health insurance = criminal mafia organization, That is a crock what they did to you, I'm sure they be happy to get rid of anyone with a chronic health condition.
They could at least give you a warning letter and some grace time before canceling you.

I hope you get this resolved asap! I had a local friend have a similar insurance thing happen to her a few years ago and she did get it resolved and got reinstated - so I hope it all goes well for you, too.

I can't always figure out the stress thing. I remember reading an article in the NYTimes some 10 years ago that many UCers reported flares 6 months AFTER a major stress. I dunno. For me, I think "emergency-type" stress in which I am DOING something doesn't bother me as much as little niggling things that I am not in control of. I'm still trying to figure it out - but, whatever for you, I sure HOPE your UC calms down quickly!
Do you need to check out any of the med-assistance programs in the meantime....?

Stress is the main factor when my flares start, that's for sure. Honestly, the American Health Care system is a joke. I mean we do have some of the best doctors and facilities, but most american's can't even afford it. I'm highly considering moving to Australia or France. They have great health care systems over there.

There are issues with the American system, but I can tell you it is far superior to the Canadian universal healthcare system in many ways.

When my colitis started I was still living in Canada. I got so sick that I was losing around 5-6 pounds a week and was going to the bathroom around 12-15 times/day. My GP told me that I would have to wait 8 months to see a specialist because there was 8 months of people sicker than me in the queue. I told him I would be dead in 8 months! My only other option was to go to the E.R. once I was so dehydrated and weak that it was warranted, but why should you have to wait until you are deathly ill to get help?

My wife, who was an RN at the time, pulled strings to get me in to see a Doc that one of her friends worked for. When the government runs the healthcare system, they make a mess of it like they do everything else.

Depends where, I have family in France and Australia. There's no queue lines over there. When you need to see the doc, you see the doc.

I have always wanted to go to Australia, just never got to go before, but now I might start thinking more seriously about it... hmmmm... lol.. Anything to get better...

STRESS is horrible for UC. I always flare when under stress. Hope you feel better soon!
