To help absorb some of the water in the colon and help bulk the stool, fibre supplements would be a good suggestion. I never overdo the water...I do, however, make sure I eat enough during the day and have water in between. Too much water with with little food intake can cause one's electrolyte balance to be out of whack...There's an interesting subjective perception between drinking plenty of water and drink adequate amounts of water to prevent dehydration.
