sickness after surgery

confused  been fighting this for about two years with little succes   talking with doc about taking out colon    been on new meds cimzia for 8 injections now with little results still have alot of pain,urgency,8 to 10 bm a day, but not as much blood as on humira   talked to someone that had 90% of his colon taken out and he told me to fight surgury as long as i could because he gets sick all the time now   if someone gets around him that is sick he gets sick too most of the time  does this happen to any of you   i just want my life back  confused

I had my entire colon and rectum removed and a jpouch constructed 9 years ago. I have not been sick since. I think those that opt for a partial surgery are more prone to having continual UC problems than those who opt for a total proctocolectomy. Your best bet is to have a consultation with an experienced colorectal surgeon. If you need assistance finding a recommended surgeon in your city or state, email me.

im suprised they only took part of his colon, thats why he is still sick

I had all mine removed in 2007, and have a perm ileo.  Other than the occasional cold or stomach bug, i havent been sick.  I'm off all meds, UC is gone, its great!
dont put off surgery because of one person's bad experince esp since they didnt have the correct surgery anyway.

thank you just looking for input because this is a major surgery and might be the way i need to go to get some of my life back was just worried about the sickness because this person gets sick all the time and i was wondering if alot of people have been in the same boat as him i dont know what to expect after surgery or just keep going like i am and hoping for a med that will work for me thanks for the input

Just knowing how the whole thing works, you should be less sick. Your body will not be run down all the time as it is now.
