How many c-scopes have you had for your UC and over what time period? I've had one scope in 4 years - beginning to think this is below average?
Thanks,

I have had UC for 7 years. I had one scope at dx and thenwas in remission for 6 yrs- no scopes for that whole time. I recently (May) had my second scope and am flaring. My GI mentioned that from now on I should have one every 2 years. :(

I had one at diagnosis, one at the end of the first year and one every 2 1/2 - 3 years on average, depending on timing and how I was feeling.
yes, you're on the low side, especially if you're having problems.

I've had 5 scopes and I was diagnosed in 2004. It's been 1 a year or so for me over the last 3 yrs.

Dx in 1996, have had 7 colonscopies since then. My current GI doc recommends every 2 years. I plan on following his advice.

Every year for me. At first it was to track how I was doing (not well over the first two years) and then an adenoma was found... so, every year since then.
My new GI says he'd do it every year based on duration and extent of my UC.

First scope on diagnosis, another one at 5 years and 10 years. With sigmoidoscopies yearly in between. Since I am past the 10 year mark, I go every 2 years now.

I'm on my 3rd GI doc and it seems they all want to get in there and look around for themselves. I guess I understand. They've all had different advice regarding treatment. My current doc is AWESOME and is flexible with my treatment options.

It might have been sarcasm... after all, it is half way through the day before I go so you probably know what kind of ordeal I'm going through at the moment. ;)
