my appointment turned out to be v. fruitful. the doctor turned out to be a harvard graduate, not sure in what discipline. but she turned out to be both a nutritionist and spiritual and wellness expert. she explained that the closer people reach flare-ups from UC, the more acidic they are. i went from my first appointment ready to google for foods in high alkaline content, low acid content. there had to be a balance, but was told i was much too acidic to enjoy acidic foods-- should be mostly alkaline. she spent 2 hours with me, it was incredible. i told her i ate my meals in under 5 minutes. so my first assignment is to chew 20 times before swallowing, and replace all negative thoughts with positive thoughts.
i saw a general practitioner who was close to retirement-- he said to me once "i don't normally recommend this, because then i won't get paid, but you should do regular exercise to prevent some of the stress". i was seeing psychiatrist once for depression and he made a comment once "you know these anit-depressants are not going to do any good unless you believe they will". i was told a few times by doctors "i don't know how you got it [ current medical condition ], but here's your prescription to get rid of it". doctors cannot get into pre-med without taking a lot of chemistry classes. doctors have their place, but i have a lot of hope for my new treatment and someday i will be able to say "i don't how i got rid of UC, but life is great !". ( a twist on conventional doctor perspective who only deal with drugs).
i mean it could be the new diet i'll be on, the stress relaxation techniques i'll learn, maybe even all the drugs, i won't know-- but i have so much hope now can finally put it in permanent remission. definitely lucked out with finding this doctor.
