Where can I find a Laprascopic surgeon?

I live in north alabama. I called UAB but they dont have a surgeon who does it laprascopically. Google pulls up a lot but most of them just have the keywords and the sites dont actually say laprascopic Jpouch surgery.

I really dont know what I'm looking for. My regular GI Dr. said after my last colonoscopy that we needed to sit down and set forth a plan of surgery. Prior to that I had gone to a seperate GI Dr. who looked over my medical record and listened to me and ask some questions and there was no doubt in her mind that it was time for surgery. She set me up with an appointment to meet with a surgeon he went over the jpouch procedure with me. I told him I wasnt completely sure yet. At this point I had tried everything except a change in diet which I wanted to do, so I did and it didnt work for me. So now finally after 5 1/2 years I've finally come to the conclusion that nothing is going to work for me. I want the Minimially Invasive surgery Lapro, whatever its called. From what i've read theres less pain, faster recovery, and much less scarring. Neither my regular GI's office or the other(UAB) where I went for the surgical consult offer the laparoscopy procedure.

Oh, and I would recommend you find the most experienced CR surgeon for a jpouch. This surgery is very complex and I personally believe the more qualifed the surgeon, the better the outcome. If you can find one who is experienced and has lapro experience all the better. I had the traditional surgery with a surgeon who has done over 2000 jpouches. My incision is 5" and all but faded. I went home after a 7 day hospital stay off all pain meds, starting driving on day 8, and went back to work 3 weeks from my surgery. Lapro doesn't always guarantee what you read and I think surgeon skill is far more important.
