FIRST REMICADE TREATMENT

so I'm on imuran, lialda, and prednisone. I got my first dose of remicade 4 weeks ago. felt better until about three days ago. had a bit of blood. after having none for a while. I don't think my doc knows what he is doing. I heard from a friend with Crohn's that there is a "loading dose" that you are supposed to get at first with remicade. in other words. three infusions close together like every three weeks, then taper to 6-8 week intervals. how are others out there being treated with this medicine? I've also been trying to get my GI to call me back about it for two days, think its time to find a new doc. but I would appreciate everyones input that is on remicade and how they were dosed in the beginning. I think the medicine is working but may need an infusion sooner than the next 4 weeks when I'm scheduled.

I thought so, darn. I am looking into a new GI.
gonna go see the one a friend of mine goes to. she has Crohn's but I have left sided UC. and I agree, he doesn't have experience with the remicade. I'm really ticked off about the fact that he should have known the introductory dose course.

no, they just follow the instructions sent in by doc. but you would think they would. or even MY doc would know....I'm really dissapointed and upset. especially since I've been trying to get him on the phone for two days. not cool. calling a different GI in the morning.

that's what I was trying to accomplish with a phone call so he can order the unit and have it sent to the infusion center. and hopefully get in next week. since I'm technically a week past due on the introduction dose regime. some phone calls will be made tomorrow. thanks for the input guys. keep it coming if you have had different experiences with your first infusion please input!
