Has anybody here tried CALCIUM?
It is said that UC patients has normally a very low PH in their intestines. (ACID)
So I started one week ago with this and it has given me extreme D.
Anyone has any experience with this?

Yes I've tried taking calcium in the past with the same result. So now I take Forvia which is a multi vitamin designed for Ibd'ers. This contains more calcium then regular vitamins and I tend to be ok with it.

When I had UC I took a calcium citrate. I never had problems with it. If you're a woman in your mid-30s or older you really need to get your daily minimums of calcium and I don't a regular multi vitamin provides that. Talk to your doctor and get recommendations on a derivative that might be better tolerated.

That's strange. When I was taking a calcium supplement that had Vitamin D and magnesium, it seemed like it made my D worse. I wondered about
a connection. Recently ran out but haven't picked up more yet.. I always thought maybe it was the magnesium but now you have me wondering.

My Gyn. had recommended I take Calcium a few years ago.... I tried Caltrate and it did loosen my stools. So I stopped a while, then retried, taking Citrical, and like Subear, no problems - it sits fine.
My Gyn had recommended far more calcium that I could get through a multivitamin or food.
I believe the calcium citrate is supposed to be more easily absorbed, better for IBDer's. I'd read that somewhere.... (Tracy D'Alessandro's book, I think.)

Any calcium with magnesium in it will cause looser stools, it's the magnesium, not the calcium.

I also take calcium with no issues ... make sure it is the calcium citrate not the carbonate (like what is in Tums or Rolaids) ...

I take GNC brand calcium...it has all forms, not just one.
It also has a 2:1 ratio of magnesium...as well as vitamin D. I take 2 x 2 daily.

I think it's possible that there other factors in play....I would suspect low vitamin D and no magnesium with the supplements. maybe it's one kind of calcium over and above others...etc.
What are all the other criteria as well...how many smoke? how many have whatever else going on....
I would never stop taking calcium supps...

I take vitamin D seperate from my Calcium supp- I only take 500mg of Calciium plus whatever is in my multi..
Should the D be in the calcium- I avoid magnesiium cause of the loose stool thing

Calcium and magnesium work together....as well as the vitamin D.
I take all my vitamins together...once in the morning, once at night.

Calcium is not absorbed in absence of Vitamin D. You need to take them together.

There are certain calcoum supplements you can find at health food stores that are much easier to tolerate like rainbow light. I take it without any problems daily.
