I've been doing two mesalamine enemas for many years, because once my body got used to them, I was never able to get off them, even when I was fully in remission.
Doing an enema in the morning is very inconvenient if you have a busy life, but I am stuck because every time I try to taper off the morning enema my symptoms start to come back with a vengeance.
The OP is not clear about
how long the diarrhea has been going on for. Having 1 to 3 BMs is not exceptional for someone with UC. However, if those BMs have all been D, then it probably is the start of a flare. If it is only since she ate the food at the wedding, then it is too early to jump to any conclusions.
Adding a nighttime mesalamine enema for the purpose of retaining remission is not a bad idea, but that is a different issue than whether the OP is flaring or not.
