Flare while on Apriso

I take 4 pills a day and that was never enough to get rid of my flare. I finally used Rowasa, rectal meds to get rid of it. You should ask your doctor for it. Some people on here take 8 pills when flaring, just thought.

I am on 8 Apriso capsules while in flare.  This is also new medicine for me however I believe the Dr. will reduce me to the maintenance dosage of 4 capsules once I can get past this flare.

Just wanted you to know.  I've read several postings of individuals who took 8 Apriso capsules while flaring and 4 for remission.

Goodluck. I flared while on Asacol and nothing would help stop it except prednisone. I am still struggling to become stable. You sound like you're in much better shape than I was. Enemas will probably help get things back under control. You could try the cortfoam enemas if Rowasa doesn't help.

I had a small flare, non-solid bowel movements, very sudden, and about 4 times a day, but no blood nor pain, nor nausea.
My doctor put me on enemas, solved all my problems, and I am off of them now.
Even though Apriso is a slow release capsule, which helps a lot of people, oral mesalamines still have one weakness, and that is not reaching the whole colon, which is why in most cases, with a small flare, rectal mesalamines are needed.

These drugs won't completely prevent flares.
I always had to up the dose and add prednisone when I flared. I have no idea how I would have been without asacol, I was afraid to try.
I have stopped asacol now that I am on Remicade, however.
