I was just wondering if any of you guys have had blood clots in the toilet after you have a bowel movement.

Yep. Too many to count sometimes. Very scary. Seeing skin is also scary.

Exactly what may blood clots indicate? I know that bright red blood is usually from lower in the colon...

I hate the blood clots. I just passed one that one that was between the size of a large grape and ping pong ball. I feel for you.... I also am wondering what they indicate. Does size mean anything?

Yes seen them many times, I don't know if it is an ulcer clotting up and when you go it rips it from your colon wall or what exactly is with the clots.

I've been getting them off and on lately.  I suspect that having a movement dislodges them from the wall of my colon.  I think my colon is trying to heal, when the clots are dislodged I tend to see more blood in the toilet.

Basically, blood clots commonly form on broken blood vessels. It's the body's way of trying to heal damage to the lining of blood vessels. The following URL gives a detailed explanation with pictures:

The blood clots I get from flareups are round like a ball, about one inch in diameter.

Thanks for the replies. Having blood clots was a new thing for me, but knowing other people have them makes me feel a little better I guess, hopefully you know what I mean. I'm exhausted today and I am going to lay down for a while.
