Crapshoot - question for you

I seen that you are on Imuran and Allopurinol. I am going to be starting the Allo next Tuesday after the wind down from the high dose of my 6mp. When you had Allo added into your med line, did you have any noticable side effects? Does it help or is this the same type of med that it takes a few months before the affects can be felt? Any information you can give me about your use of Allo and Imuran would be appreciated!

Hey Sherry, sorry for the delayed response--I've been out of town the last week.

I have had no noticeable side effects from the Allopurinol at all. My GI pulled me down on the Imuran from 250mg down to 100mg and then put me on 100 mg Allo as well. After monitoring my bloodwork every two weeks, I've been put up to 125mg Imuran and 100 mg Allopurinol. The doc says my metabolism level for the Allo is a good reading...it seemed to be there after a month or so. I just had a CBC a week ago and he has left me at these levels. I'm not exactly where I want to be right now as far as the flare, but am hoping that after the readjustment, I will be able to gain some traction.

Actually, I just checked my prescription history and it looks like I've on the combo since July 30th. Both levels now seem at baseline. Getting a little impatient, since I've got more blood & mucus than I'd like. If this doesn't take hold the doc is suggesting to start thinking about Remicade. Uggh.
