I've been taking Mesalamine in the form of Salofalk enemas and Mezavant for about 6 weeks, and it seems to work ok. Unfortunately it aggravates a peripheral neuropathy issue I've been dealing with. If this PN escalates, then I guess I will be forced to discontinue. So my question is whether there is another form of 5 ASA that may be more tolerable.
Also, what form did your problem with Mesalamine take, and if Colazal is more tolerable, how does that work, since they're both 5 ASA? It would be nice to stick with 5 ASA if at all possible, since it works after all, and I don't think I'm going to have much luck with steroids or immunosuppressives, due to liver issues.
