Hi!  My name is Carrie and I am new here.  I was wondering if anyone else deals with nausea from their ulcerative colitis?  What do they do?  Thanks.

Age-37

Diagnosed-2001-had small flare then nothing

2005-C. diff due to knee surgery and lots of antibiotics

Presently dx with c.diff then ulcerative proctitis and colitis not sure how far up?

Rx-Asacol 800mg -3 two times a day and Rowasa enema every night

When I have been at my worst I experience nausea. I have thrown up only a once or twice, this is when my flare was bad,I was going over 20 times a day (diarrhea,blood, mucous) running fevers, extreme weight loss...I only feel that way right before a bm.

After I go on meds the nausea is gone. Fresh Ginger is soppose to be good for nausea. Unless it bothers your tummy.

When I sometimes feel queasy in the mornings (UC related....? Not even sure) I suck a really strong peppermint, like an Altoid....

Thank you for your responses. Even on the meds I have 5 to 6 BM's a day and have lost a lot of weight since I was diagnosed. I just don't feel like eating and if I go outside of the brat diet then I will go 10 to 12 times a day. My mother had uc but she died two years ago and I don't really have anyone to turn to. My husband does not understand and I have 2 year old twin boys I need to keep up with. I just push myself everyday.

Sorry to hear about your Mom. It must be very difficult keeping up with your boys while you are feeling so crummy.  My daughter (19 yo) eats saltines almost non-stop for the nausea.  She also drinks peppermint tea.  I know that chewing on celery is suppose to help for nausea but not sure if that's a good idea with UC since it might aggravate your gut.

It helps to add a to your signature what meds/therapies you are on. That way more experienced members can chime in on what you may want to try. There is a wealth of experience and information on this forum.
You can also type in a subject and read older threads.

I hear you about pushing yourself. I bet it is really tough when you have young ones. I hope you find some help info on this site.
