The nightmare we all share. On the way home from our vacation yesterday, driving from St. Louis, I had a nasty accident. The irony is it wasn't even my UC, which is in remission! I had a bit of food poisoning, and that was what defeated me finally!

I guess with us, if it isn't one thing it's another.

Awww man Judy, that is horrible! Yep, it happens to the best of us. Did you end up vomiting at all? I had food poisoning about 6 years ago but I remember like it was yesterday. And if I recall right, it was near St. Louis as well.

oh Judy...I am sorry. You have always been such a lift to everyone here...it is time for us to give back. Hopefully it passes quickly and you feel MUCH better soon

Yikes, I hope you're feeling much better again quickly.  Ironically, I'm headed to St. Louis next week, keeping my fingers crossed that nothing happens to my digestive tract...

  I was telling my mom how tired I was of UC and now anemia. I told her how I was not in pain very much but the accidents were terrible but at least they only happened at home. SO my mom says if it makes you feel any better I dont have UC or anemia and I have had accidents twice. She said she was on the road then all of the sudden she had to go and she tried to hold it in but she did not make it to a bathroom in time. Since she was states away from home she had to clean up in a public restroom after buying new sweats and undies.

Thank you all. Actually, I've been feeling fine since late yesterday. I started with just stomach pain, then got D- no nausea or vomiting. After two episodes of D - one of which was my accident - I started putting away Imodium like a drunken sailor slugs rum, and that stopped it.

It's a lot of fun riding home in drying clothes that you rinsed out in the public restroom toilet. Fortunately they had just cleaned the restroom, so i likely won't catch anything too vile, lol!

Yuck! What do you think the culprit was? Wishing your gut a speedy recovery ... / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

I have no idea what the culprit was. I'd eaten several potential problems if restaurants didn't keep them at the right temperature. My husband had eaten most of them too, but he didn't get sick. Could have been sour cream, because he doesn't eat that.

Judy...could have been in/on anything ...all sorts of nasties ready to be ingested anytime..ugh.

It's unfortnuate you had it happen at all, let alone while on vacation. ..better it was on your way home rather than the other way around.

I would suggest you do a week's long of double dosage probiotics.
Try not to take too much imodium at this point,however.
