6MP, weird, but I'm happy

Malkavian...I am not sure it is the medication although it got a lot worse about the time that the medication started helping my flare (which means that it got to the therapeutic range by then). If it was only that, I would go to a rheumatologist and check it out (actually I have an appointment with one next week), but my GI wants me off the 6mp because of my liver enzyme levels. He also wants a liver biopsy done, but I hope I can talk him out of it. So, he wants to put me on Remicade...that's why I am really wanting the surgery. I have had this disease for 5 years and I have gone through so many medications, Remicade and Humira (my insurance company won't cover Humira) are the only ones left and I just am tired of the side effects and scared of the side effects of Remicade. The good news is my GI supports me in my decision to have surgery and completely understands because he has seen what I have gone through.

I wish I was still at the place where I couldn't imagine surgery. It still shocks me that a few months ago I felt like I would never want surgery. How quickly things change. I hope for all of you who are feeling great and the medication is working that they keep working and you continue to feel great. I also hope that there is a cure soon. I just can't wait any longer.

I went through the Scope with flying colors! Of course, I won't have the results of the biopsies for a while yet. The Miralax Prep is the way to go! It goes down easy There were no polyps and the disease activity was minor and contained in lower end of the sigmoid and procto-sigmoid. Of course they never want to be too reassuring! I came home and slept from about 3 til almost 7. Now I am starving so I am going to eat dinner then go back to bed! Thanks for the well-wishes!

Disneynut: Ah, if your liver enzyme levels are off, then it's probably best to stop taking it anyway. Good luck with the remi in that case (insurance companies really suck huh?) or if you decide to get the surgery. If you do go with surgery try to do a capsule endoscopy beforehand to rule out crohn's if you haven't already.
