Well, I finally took the big step and have scheduled surgery. Cannot go on with problems and prednisone. I will be cured on Nov. 1 in Memphis. I will be having the jpouch. This will be my first surgery.

I am scared, obviously, and need everyones prayers. I don't know what to expect but can't wait to feel better.

Its ok to be scared, thats normal, but its going to be great to be healthy!

I wish you the best and I hope you have no problems.  I hope this works and you can live the rest of your life without UC. tongue Let us know how you do.  I'm going to need surgery soon and like to hear all the feed back.

Good luck MacGirl. I'm in the middle of all of that now and my only regret is that I didn't do this five years ago when I was first diagnosed!

U will be very happy to finally have that diseased colon out of your body!! After 10 years of UC i had mine removed in Feb 2008 and i cant believe how great life is again!! Are you going to be having a temporary ileostomy? Do you need to have the full 3 surgeries or just 2? Im just curious so i can give you better feedback on what to expect if youll be having the bag?

The surgeon said I would need three surgeries. First to take it out. Second to bring small intestine down and third to close up the stoma.
