aguywithuc,
I was wondering about your UC related stroke or thrombosis, He said it was UC inflammation + pred + dehydration, Im a runner and before each event/long run, I take 2 Asacol, 2/3 Pred, and 2 Immodium, No water during and drink powerade after..Seems to keep me under control, but now am a little worried Im putting myself at risk...
I'm more than a little worried. I am trying to stay hydrated but notice that lots of people complain about
the blood thinners causing memory loss, exactly the opposite of what I need going into interviews at the end of the job season. So I ignore their advice and have a lot of caffeine etc. In the hospital major hydration efforts seemed to help with the pain. The vicodin is really helping with the UC but it hurt tonight playing with my daughter so I am hydrating to 'catch-up' after several key interviews this week.
I try to limit it as much as possible and will stop the caffeine as soon as I am able to.
What led to the hospital was HIGH doses of prednisone, high platelet count and dehydration that had gone on for days without relief. I had just become obsessed with getting the place totally organized ( before the pred fell below 30 because above 30 it gives me the git-r-done attitude ) building shelves in the garage etc. prior to the block party. I tasted salt in my mouth and just kept going I think as long as you are limiting it to within a single day you should be fine but you can always do blood tests to assure yourself its a-ok. They even have something called a 'coagulation panel' which would be good to have taken immediately following one of your events. You can schedule your own blood tests via directlabs.com.
