Intermittent joint pain has become the worst of my symptoms (because, fortunately, my GI symptoms are not very severe).
I didn't have any pre-IBD joint pain, so I don't know yet how to deal with it.
The worst pain is in my knees, especially walking down or up stairs, and in a few fingers of my right hand. When the finger pain is bad, it can be very slow and painful to do everyday household things like baby care or cooking. Today I found I couldn't even take off my bra without lots of pain. :(
I'm using a heat wrap and I'm taking acetaminophen. What else could I be doing? Thanks.

I have extremely painful joint pain and also have babies to raise :) My dr gave me percocet to take as needed. I use it mainly for knight when I cant sleep because it hurts to lay down.

Have you seen a rheumatologist yet? If not, you should see one to determine what is causing the joint pain. I have a lot of issues with my hands, arthritis, tendonitis, carpal tunnel and trigger finger. When I have certain fingers become extremely sore, I go into my doc and she gives me cortisone injections in the fingers that hurt the most. It takes the pain away for about
a year. I also use a paraffin wax machine for my hands. The moist heat does wonders. I used to take Celebrex and it didn't bother my Uc much but because I went into a flare, I had to stop taking it for a while. I also have used Volteran gel on my knees. It works but it's only a temporary relief. I mainly use Tylonel Arthritis now - every 8 hours.

Hi ansui. My UC experience has been similar to yours in which my joint pain was, by far, my worst symptom (axial enteropathic arthritis). I finally realized that the daily pain wasn't worth enduring anymore. It was affecting every part of my life in a negative way. I was given a prescript
ion for Humira which I started 2 weeks ago. My rheumatologist had to do some creative prescript
ion writing in order to get me approved with my insurance company, but I'm glad he did. The Humira has made a world of difference. I used to wake up 3 to 5 times a night with back/spine pain. Now I am sleeping through the night and doing a lot of the things I used to do before all of this mess started.
Good luck.

I've started having this problem, too, but I don't currently have any suggestions on how to help it since I don't know myself

In your sig you have "possible cd" crossed out. What is the story behind this? Did the doctor decide it's for sure not CD?
