just got them drawn today and both of them are not elevated at all. doc thinks my bleeding may be due to a fissure or hemmies. going maybe twice a day. they are formed but still having some blood. i asked him if he could do a c-scope just for peace of mind. should be a lot easier than a flex sig as i'll be knocked out right? as far as the lab tests can both of them be normal while in an active flare?

Yes, mine were while bleeding like a stuck pig. I couldn't squat without bleeding sometimes, and had a 1.5 CRP. And the source wasn't fissures or hemmies.

I've never had elevated CRP or ESR and I've always had bad flare ups. I think a flex sig is easier than a colonoscopy, it only takes a few minutes and it would definitely go far enough to check for hemmies. Although it is not comfortable, it's faster and you don't need a driver, plus you don't feel out of it from the meds and you don't have to prep too much. I only had to do 2 fleet enemas before. A colonoscopy is almost a 2 day event because you have to prep all day before and then you're out of it the day after. Unless I needed to see my whole colon, I would opt for the Sig.

I recently did the same lab tests as you and my ESR was 8 which is in normal range. My CRP was elevated to over a 10. This is the first time it ever has been elevated though.

well i only went once yesterday and once today with no blood for the first time. maybe the UC just gets scared when a c-scope is mentioned? i think i'm going to go ahead and go through with it even if things continue to improve. can't hurt right?

LOL...absolutely have the scope. As well, get a copy of the biopsy results.
I've never had my doc do blood tests to see if I was flaring or make comment without taking alook if it's doubtful. I have obvious flare symptoms, so it's never been questioned.
Has your doc not even taken a quick look to say whether you have hemmies or a fissure?
Are you at least on any rectal meds at this time?

I did the split prep last thursday for mine. I had a rough time drinking it but Ive been having stomach issues that involves vomiting after I eat/drink soo that didn't help. I didn't like the split because I knew I had to wake up and drink more of that crap. The first half I was supposed to drink in around 2 hours.....it took me 6...but the doctor on his findings sheet from my colonscopy said my bowel prep was excellent. So I guess it didn't matter it took longer. Im glad Im done with that LOL.
Good Luck!!
