numb hands and feet?

I am having the same problems except it occurs in all my extremities on & off. I stay in alot of pain. It seems to get worse w/ a flare-up. I've had many neuro tests completed on my which, all came back normal. So far, I have had no luck in trying to find out what's wrong. People now see me as a hypochondriac.

Numb hands and feet can also be a symptom of peripheral neuropathy, which is an apparently rare (but very real) possibility if you're taking 5ASA. If you're on 5ASA and stop taking it, and the numbness subsides but comes back when you resume taking it, you've likely got yourself a case of PN, one of the perks that come with this disease.

Like the old saying goes, first you get the disease, then you get the disease you get from having the first disease.

     Have your blood glucose level checked too.  When I was on prednisone my blood sugar skyrocketed and my family doctor had to put me on medication.  I knew the symptoms of diabetes because both my parents were diabetics.  I had excessive thirst and numbness in my fingers.  People exhibit different symptoms but numbness in the extremities are one of them.  Better be safe than sorry.

     Happy to say that since my operation in June, I was able to taper off the prednisone completely, along with all the other meds I was taking for UC and the only med I take now is 25 mgm of Toprol for my blood pressure.  Blood sugar is normal..yaaa.
