My doctor prescribed Niacin (B3) to help lower my moderately-high cholesterol. (I'm not ready for statins.)
I just decided to google for any counter-indications, and found some warnings against taking Niacin if you have UC.
Anyone have any first-hand experience with this?
Thanks,
Eph

What in particular is the warning you're speaking about
related to UC? Is it a particular dosage level? is it niacin compared to niacinamide?

I used to take Niacin for my Raynauds and it didn't bother my Uc.

quincy:
The statements were pretty non-specific:
"Supplements are not recommended for those suffering from peptic (stomach) ulcers, diabetes, colitis, asthma, liver disease, or gout."

I know that my husband takes Niaspan (for his cholesterol) and some of the side effects are nausea, diarrhea and vomiting. He doesn't suffer from any of the side effects from it, thankfully.
