Hi friends - it's been awhile since I've been on this site. I'm a full time student this year and pretty busy.
Anyhow, I started with a new GI today. For a 'scope next month he wants me to prep with Klean Prep! Yuck, I was in tears a few years ago trying to choke all that salty 'vanilla' stuff down. At my scope last year my old GI had me prep with that orange drink and then drink a bunch of water afterwards. I MUCH preferred that!!!

Please, will someone tell me the name of that stuff so I can ask my new GI doc about it.

I am not sure what the orange stuff is, but they had me drink 2 64 ozs of orange gatorade with 1 gigantic bottle of miralax (dont remember the exact size..). They recommended that because it really doesn't taste that bad at all.

There's also osmoprep - sodium phosphate pills you take with all the water or clear liquids you can possibly drink. No flavor at all!

I suggest you call your old GI's assistant and ask what the prep was....at least you know you were able to do it.

Formulatrix, Osmoprep has been black listed by the FDA because it can cause kidney issues including failure.

The prep I think you're talking about is a 5 letter word, beginning with the letter P. Pilex? Something like that? Sold in Canada, not the US. Tastes like Tang I've read here on topics.

Good luck finding it. I wish they'd approve it in the US.

Sherry, I think you mean black-boxed (labeling changes), not black-listed (had its FDA approval removed). If it were black listed, I don't think my doc would be prescribing it for me.

Black boxed...you are correct. I used Osmoprep in the past too and other then it tasting a bit like a salt lick, it wasn't that bad. However, shortly after that prep I developed Hematuria in my urine. So I wonder if this prep was the culprit. On my last scope, I used Moviprep and it wasn't that bad really.

hey :) i took the same one i think, mine was called Pico Salax, its orange flavoured and i had to drink ALOT of water after.

THANK YOU THAANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! Pico Salax is exactly it! I pray my GI says ok. I just cannot take that other stuff again.
Thanks so much to EVERYONE for responding. You guys are such a community to me.

I'm sitting in a class now, so constipated i want to go home and try to get comfortable. The doc upped my meds so inflammation should settle down soon - tonight hopefully.

Stopped by my GI's office. The receptionist said he lets VERY FEW people take Pico Salax because it doesn't always work thoroughly.
He's allowing me to take it on the premise that I drink 'tonnes' of water. I will. The directions say 250ml of water every hour..which is very little in my mind. I'll drink a litre very hour. Just don't give me that golytely. Fingers crossed it works. It did for me last time except for a little stool left. BUT, I had not tapered my diet very well the days leading up to it and i could have done better with the water.

I should be ok - right?
