It just occurred to me that I have been able to pass gas like a normal human for many months now instead of running to the toilet because gas was always accompanied with D. I'm not bragging, not asking the god of UC to smite me for hubris, just remembering how anxious every hour of every day was.

Oh the joy of passing gas fearlessly. A small joy but one nevertheless.

Yes, it feels good to pass gas without the D. The rectum is very tender when that happens so otherwise it means a good deal of healing has taken place.

I remember thinking that exact same thing when I got into remission. Now I don't even worry about just letting it rip unless I'm worried someone will hear/smell it!

Yes, indeed. Congratulations on reaching such a happy stage of recovery! THEREAREMIRACLES posted way back that remission is "when you can fart without something else flying out into your pants". With UC that "something else" tends to be bloody mucus, an ungodly mess to wash out of clothing especially when you're feeling weak from a UC flare. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Congratulations on the dry farting.  Letting a good and extended fart out that is completely dry is a true hallmark of UC in control in my opinion.  For years I was afraid of letting some gas out for fear of what would come out with it.  Now it's not a problem and I can totally relate to your joy.  In fact I just let one out in your honor.  Fart on!

thank god I have no problems at the moment...my only worry is clearing out the room when I do...I swear the plants in the corner wilt when I do
