Anyone find that this may help? When I have a flare I become extremely anxious and am wondering if this might help in remission process? Would love some feedback!! Thanks and Happy Holidays

I take Atavan when I get overly anxious..... it might help my gut a little; it certainly helps my attitude toward the whole thing! I have taken it occasionally on and off for a number of years.
Happy holidays to you, too!

I was given xanax to try because I had to fly so much, and after 9-11 it became really difficult because there was no access to restrooms for long periods of time (long for someone with UC). It didn't help me at all, sorry to say. Still lots of anxiety, but fortunately I never had an accident.

I hate to say it but Vicodin really helps me I discovered. I do not feel much cognitively but it seems to really help the UC so after explaining that I had it under control with a switchup in my meds until put on blood thinner, and that when the blood thinner stops I will never ask for vicodin again my GP wrote me another script
for the next 2 months. Valium seems to help which is odd since it reduces cortisol, clearly it does not knock me out too badly as it is 12:15 am and I am up and walking around looking for food to help me get sleepy again. Now Ativan I do not like as I tended to abuse that and it had a horrible withdrawal when I stopped it due to the short half life - I do not get that from Valium nor restoral as they make me sleepy and I go to bed. Ativan I could keep taking.

My gut and mind are strongly connected. When I am stressed or upset, so is my Uc. I take Klonopin on occasion on high anxiety days and I do tend to notice a slight difference in my Uc. But it has never induced remission in me. Maybe because I don't take it every day.

Thanks everyone for your replies and support. I agree, taking anti-anxiety meds won't help the UC,but for those of us who suffer occasional anxiety and have a strong mind/gut connection it does take the edge off the stress during a flare up!
Any support and advice is always helpful!!
